Embarking on his journey as a visionary entrepreneur, in 2010 he started his first career as a hairstylist in the bustling city of New York. His artistic endeavors have graced the pages of renowned publications like Vogue, Elle, and Refinery29, alongside various remarkable projects.

Driven by a fervent desire to foster inclusivity and equity within the entertainment sphere, Ricky established his brainchild, Slick, in 2019. Embracing his identity as a queer black creative, he recognized the pivotal role of diverse representation behind the lens, cultivating a nurturing environment for artists to authentically express themselves. Collaborating with esteemed brands such as Serena Williams Jewelry, Netflix, and Flo Health, Slick and its adept team is leaving an indelible mark in the industry.

In a milestone achievement in 2024, Ricky was designated as the inaugural Artist in Residence for the August Wilson Archive housed at University of Pittsburgh's Hillman Library. During this residency, Ricky created the multi-media exhibition, "Ev'ry Thing That Glitta, Ain't" to present his research on Wilson's unreleased works. Ricky exhibited the project at Hillman and Assemble Gallery in Pittsburgh. Ricky has been selected to travel across Japan alongside an artist collective, A Safe Space, to develop his next project, Memories of Japan.
